Vinzenz Czerny (1842–1916)

German (Bohemian) surgeon. Studied in Prague and Vienna, where he received his medical degree, 1866. Habilitated in surgery, Vienna, 1871. Professor of surgery, Freiburg, 1871; Heidelberg, 1877–1906. Emeritus professor at the institute for experimental cancer research, Heidelberg, 1906–16. Developed new surgical techniques in several areas.
