Johann Jakob Dillenius (1687–1747)

German-born botanist. Physician in Geissen before moving to England in 1721. Lived with his patron, William Sherard, in Oxford and London. First president of the Botanical Society (London), 1721. Professor of botany at Oxford, 1734. FRS 1724.
