Botanist and plant collector. Foreman gardener, Chelsea Physic Garden, 1816–21. Collected plants for the Horticultural Society, 1821–3. Published a four-volume general systematic work on botany and gardening (1831–8). Fellow of the Linnean Society of London, 1831.
