Joseph Ewart (1831–1906)

Surgeon. MD, St Andrews, 1853; served in the Bengal Medical Service. Professor of physiology, professor of anatomy, and principal, Calcutta Medical College. Returned to England in 1876; retired in 1879. Fellow, Royal College of Physicians, 1881. Mayor of Brighton, 1891–4. Knighted, 1895.
