Charles Loring Brace (1826–90)

American philanthropist and social reformer. After studying theology at Yale University and the Union Theological Seminary, New York City, toured Europe, 1850–1. One of the founders of the New York City Children’s Aid Society, 1853; secretary, 1853–93.
