Simon Habel (1820/1–79)

Austrian physician and naturalist. Graduated from Vienna University, 1846. Resident physician of hospital. Emigrated to New York City, 1847. Travelled to Central and South America, including the Galàpagos Islands. Returned to New York in 1877. The Smithsonian Institution published his archaeological research.
