Carl Gottfried Wilhelm Heinrich (Carl) Hagenbeck (1844–1913)

German animal dealer and zoo owner. Ran a business in Hamburg trading in animals from 1866. Organised expeditions to capture animals. Put on ‘people’s shows’ (circuses) from 1874. Founded a wildlife park in Stellingen in 1907.
