Alexander Kennedy (fl. 1840–85)

Scottish banker. Manager of the Banking Company at the Bay of Islands, New Zealand, 1840–1, then Auckland, 1841–5; member of the Legislative Council of New Zealand, 1846–7, and of New Ulster (new North Island), 1848; manager of the Union Bank of Australia at Auckland, 1845–61; inspector and general manager of the New Zealand Bank, 1861–9. Retired to London; author of the memoir New Zealand (1873).
