Hermann Landois (1835–1905)

German zoologist and dialect poet. Studied theology and natural sciences in Münster. Ordained priest, 1859. Received his doctorate in Greifswald for work on insects, 1863. Associate professor of zoology, Münster, 1873; professor, 1876. Removed from various offices in 1876 for having distanced himself from the Church.
