Edwin Henry Landseer (1802–73)

Animal painter. Pupil of Benjamin Robert Haydon, 1813–16; studied at the Royal Academy Schools from 1816. Made several expeditions to Scotland, 1824–35. Known for animal paintings, especially in Scottish settings.
