Lorenzo Lorraine Langstroth (1810–95)

American minister and apiarist. Principal of schools in Philadelphia and Greenfield, Massachusetts. In 1851, developed an innovative moveable-frame beehive that revolutionised bee-keeping. Author of Langstroth on the hive and the honey-bee (1853).
