William Lauder Lindsay (1829–80)

Physician and botanist. MD, Edinburgh, 1852. Medical officer, Royal Institution for the Insane, Perth, 1854. Wrote on the mental processes of lower animals, emphasising their similarity to those of humans. As a botanist, specialised in lichens.
