John Carrick Moore (1805–98)

Scottish geologist. At Glasgow University, 1820–3. BA, Cambridge (Queens’ College), 1827. Called to the bar, 1831. Justice of the peace and deputy lieutenant, Corswall, Stranraer. Fellow of the Geological Society of London, 1838; secretary, 1846–52. Specialised in the geology of Galloway. FRS 1856.
