Thomas Brittain (1806–84)

Naturalist and accountant. One of the promoters of the Manchester Microscopical Society, 1858. Vice-president and president of a second Manchester Microscopical Society, established in 1879. Lectured on natural science to mechanics’ institutes and similar bodies. Published a guide to microfungi.
