William Odling (1829–1921)

Chemist. Studied at Guy’s Hospital, London; demonstrator in chemistry, 1850; MB 1851; FRCP 1859. Appointed lecturer, St Bartholomew’s Hospital, 1863. Fullerian Professor of chemistry, Royal Institution, 1868. Waynflete Professor of chemistry, Oxford, 1872–1912. Recognised for his research in both medical and theoretical chemistry. FRS 1859.
