Josiah Parkes (1793–1871)

Agricultural and civil engineer. Practised as an engineer in Manchester, 1820–5; in Paris, 1825–30. Consultant engineer to the Royal Agricultural Society of England, 1843–7. Worked as a draining adviser until 1869.
