Richard Bentley (1794–1871)

Printer and publisher. Established a printing business with his brother in 1819. Became partner in a publishing business with Henry Colburn, 1829; head of his own firm, 1832–52. Published Bentley’s Miscellany from 1837 with Charles Dickens as editor; Temple Bar from 1866. From 1867 the firm was managed by his son George.
