Alexander Pedler (1849–1918)

Chemist. Chemical assistant at the Royal Institution of Great Britain, 1867. Member of the eclipse expedition to Sicily, 1870. Professor of chemistry, Presidency College of Bengal, 1873–96; principal, 1896–1904. Helped establish the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science. FRS 1892. Knighted, 1906.
