Mathematician and clergyman. BA, Cambridge (Gonville and Caius), 1833; MA (Christ’s and Sidney Sussex), 1836. Chaplain, East India Company, 1838–44; to the bishop of Calcutta, 1844–50. Archdeacon of Calcutta, 1850–71. FRS 1866.
