James Rennell (1742–1830)

Geographer and oceanographer. Royal Navy, 1756–63; surveyor, East India Company, 1764–77. Published on the geography of Asia, North Africa, and the currents of the North Atlantic. Awarded the Copley Medal of the Royal Society of London, 1791. FRS 1781.
