Gustav Rose (1798–1873)
German mineralogist. Studied mining at Kömigshütte, 1816–20. Habilitated in mineralogy, University of Berlin, 1823; extraordinary professor, 1826; professor, 1839. Director, mineralogical institute, Berlin, 1856–73. Worked on the geometric and chemical properties of crystals and was instrumental in the discovery of isomorphism.
