Thomas Black (1798/9–1894)

Irish-born Australian physician. Studied medicine at Glasgow University. Emigrated to Australia in 1833. Founding member of the council of the Zoological Society of Victoria, 1858; appointed member of the Zoological Gardens (of Melbourne) Management Committee between 1858 and 1860. President of the Acclimatisation Society of Victoria circa 1868.
