William Alexander Francis Browne (1805–85)

Physician. President of the Plinian Society, Edinburgh, when CD was a member. Physician at Stirling, 1830. Superintendent of Montrose lunatic asylum; superintendent of Crichton Institute at Dumfries, 1839. Commissioner in lunacy for Scotland, 1857–70.
