Emily Mary [Amelia] Temple, 3d Viscountess Palmerston (1839–1869) (1787–1869)

Legally the child of Peniston Lamb, first Viscount Melbourne, but probably the daughter of George O’Brien Wyndham, third earl of Egremont. Married Peter Leopold Louis Francis Nassau Cowper, fifth Earl Cowper (1778–1837), in 1805. Married Henry John Temple, third Viscount Palmerston, in 1839, and often entertained the political élite in her several homes. Inherited her family’s estates in Hertfordshire and Derbyshire in 1853.
