Nikolai Vasilyevich Bobretsky (1843–1907)
Russian zoologist. Studied natural science at Kiev, 1862–6; passed his master’s exam and became a laboratory assistant in 1868. Went to the Crimea in 1869 to study annelids of the Black Sea. Doctorate in zoology, Kiev, 1873; professor extraordinarius, 1877. Worked on the embryology of various invertebrates and the taxonomy of worms, and published a highly regarded textbook on zoology.
