Harry Verney, 2d baronet (1827–1894) (1801–94)

Politician. Born Harry Calvert. Served with the thirty-first foot, 1819–20; with the seventh fusiliers, and the seventy-second and fifty-second foot regiments. Adjutant, Grenadier Guards. Returned to private studies in 1822. Succeeded to the baronetcy in 1826. Assumed the surname Verney in 1827 on inheriting the estates of a cousin. Travelled in South America until 1829. Studied at Downing College, Cambridge, 1831–3. MP for Buckingham from 1832.
