Francis Hamilton (1818–1829)

Physician and botanist. Served in the Bengal Medical Service, 1794–1815. Superintendent, Calcutta botanic garden, 1814–15. Took the name Hamilton when he succeeded to his mother’s estate upon the death of his elder brother, 1818. FRS 1806.
