Frederick William Thomas Burbidge (1847–1905)

Horticultural writer and explorer. Studied at the Royal Horticultural Society gardens at Chiswick, 1868; Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, 1868–70. Wrote under the pseudonym "Veronica" for the magazine Garden, 1870–7. Sent by the nursery firm James Veitch & Sons as a collector to Borneo, 1877–9. Curator, botanical gardens of Trinity College, Dublin, from 1879; keeper of the college park from 1894. Wrote on horticulture.
