Surgeon. MRCS 1855, LSA 1857. Assistant medical officer, county asylum, Rainhill, Lancashire 1862–64; senior assistant medical officer, county asylum, Tooting, Surrey 1864–74. A founder member and honorary secretary of the Lewisham and Blackheath Scientific Association, 1879. Member of the Société d’anthropologie de Paris, 1865. Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, 1872. Fellow of the Geological Society of London, 1874.
