Matilda Briouze (d. 1210)

Daughter of Bernard de St Valéry, lord of Beckley, Oxfordshire. Married William (III) de Briouze (or Braose), landholder in the Welsh and Irish marches. Her indiscreet remarks about King John’s murder of his nephew Arthur contributed to her family’s downfall; she and her eldest son were imprisoned and starved to death.
