Harriet Grote (1820–1878)

Woman of letters. Daughter of Thomas Lewin, retired employee of the East India Company, and his wife Mary Hale. Married George Grote in 1820. Became involved in radical politics, especially women’s suffrage. Wrote her husband’s biography and edited his posthumous publications.
