Paul Wilhelm Magnus (1844–1914)

German botanist. Studied in Berlin and Freiburg, receiving his doctorate in 1870. Commissioned by the German Ministry of Agriculture to take part in voyages in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. Privat-dozent in botany, Berlin University, 1875; professor extraordinarius, 1880. Worked particularly on algae and fungi.
