Gladstone Professor of Greek, University College, Liverpool, 1880–97; principal of the college. Vice-chancellor, Victoria University, Liverpool, 1890–4. Headmaster of Charterhouse, 1897–1911. Ordained deacon, 1898; priest, 1899.
