Richard Mead (1673–1754)
Physician and collector of books and art. Studied medicine at Leiden and Padua; MD, Padua, 1695. DM, Oxford, 1707; FRCP 1716. Owned 10,000 volumes and 150 paintings, including works by Rembrandt, Poussin, and Canaletto, and a noted collection of miniatures.
