Henry Eeles Dresser (1838–1915)
Ornithologist. Entered his father’s business as a Baltic timber merchant and travelled in northern Europe, 1854–62. Entered the metal trade in London in 1870. Collected bird eggs and skins. Member of the British Ornithologists’ Union from 1865; secretary, 1882–8. Published letters and papers in Ibis, and History of the birds of Europe (1871–96), in collaboration initially with R. B. Sharpe.
