George Granville William Sutherland-Leveson-Gower, 3d duke of Sutherland (1828–92)

Politician. Liberal MP for Sutherland, 1852–61. Lord lieutenant of Cromarty, 1853–92. Notable for land experiments on his Highland estates, and his investment in the development of the Highland railway. Marquess of Stafford, 1833–61; succeeded to the dukedom in 1861.
