James Hamilton, 1st duke of Abercorn (1811–85)

Landowner and politician. Educated at Harrow School and at Christ Church College, Oxford. Lord lieutenant of Ireland, 1866–8 and from 1874. Succeeded as second marquess of Abercorn in 1818; raised to the dukedom of Abercorn, 1868.
