Max Porges von Portheim (1857–1937)

Bohemian bibliographer and collector. Studied chemistry and agriculture at the Universities of Prague and Halle, and later history and philosophy without completing a degree. After travelling settled in Vienna in 1893, and made an extensive collection of books and prints from the period 1740–92. Produced the Portheim card catalogue of circa 600,000 items.
