Derk Doyer (1827–96)

Dutch physician. MD, State Military Medical School, Utrecht; qualified in obstetrics, Leiden University, 1851. Taught and practised medicine, Java, 1851–60. Studied ophthalmology with F. C. Donders, Utrecht, 1860–2. Professor extraordinarius of ophthalmology, Leiden University, 1869; professor, 1877–97.
