Philippa Garrett Fawcett (1868–1948)

Mathematician and civil servant. Daughter of Henry Fawcett (ODNB) and Millicent Garrett Fawcett (ODNB). Studied at Newnham College, Cambridge, and received the highest marks in the Mathematical Tripos in 1890. Lecturer, Newnham College, 1892–1902. Principal assistant in the executive officer (education) department of London County Council, 1905–20; assistant education officer (higher education), 1920–34.
