Robert Brudenell Carter (1828–1918)

Ophthalmic surgeon and general practitioner. MD, London, 1851. Developed an early interest in nervous diseases. Staff surgeon during the Crimean War; wrote letters to The Times from the front. Served on the editorial staff of the Lancet and The Times. Ophthalmic surgeon to the Royal Eye Hospital, Southwark, 1869–77; St George’s Hospital, 1870.
