Paul Maximilian Voelkel (1839–1907)
German schoolteacher. Born in Wirsitz, Posen, Prussia (Wyrzysk, Poland). Studied and worked in France and England, 1864–75. Studied at the University of London and resided at the grammar school in Brentwood, Essex, in 1872. Qualified as a teacher of French, English, mathematics, and Latin, Breslau, 1876; philosophy and pedagogy, 1877. Teacher at the Königliche Französische Gymnasium (Royal French Grammar School), Berlin, 1878–90; senior teacher, 1890–5; professor, 1895–9.
