John Eyton Bickersteth Mayor (1825–1910)

Classical scholar and clergyman. Brother of Robert and Joseph Bickersteth Mayor. BA, Cambridge University, 1848; fellow of St John’s, Cambridge, 1849; lecturer in classics, 1853. Master at Marlborough College, 1849–53. Ordained deacon, 1855; priest, 1857. Cambridge University librarian, 1864–7. Professor of Latin, 1872–1910.
