Edwin Chadwick (1800–90)

Sanitary reformer. On royal commission to investigate condition of factory children, 1833. Secretary to the new poor-law commissioners, 1834–46. A member of the sanitary commission, 1839 and 1844. A member of the Board of Health, 1848–54.
