Henry Christy (1810–65)

Ethnologist, archaeologist, geologist, and banker. Partner in the London banking house Christy & Co.; director of the London Joint-Stock Bank. Travelled for ethnological purposes in the East in 1850; in Scandinavia, 1852–3; in Canada, the United States, Cuba, and Mexico, 1856–7. Member of the Geological Society of London, 1858; conducted excavations of caves in the Vézère valley in southern France with Edouard Lartet in the 1860s.
