Amos Bronson (Bronson) Alcott (1799–1888)

American educator and writer. From 1823, worked as a schoolteacher in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania, moving frequently. His methods emphasised individual learning, creative writing, and discussion. Member of the Transcendental Club from 1836. Published books on education reform and transcendental philosophy. Father of the novelist Louisa May Alcott.
