Mr Douglas William Freshfield (27 April 1845–9 February 1934)

British lawyer. Also had a keen interest in mountaineering and edited the Alpine Journal from 1872 to 1880. In 1904 he was the President of the Geographical Section of the British Association before becoming Vice-President of the Royal Geographical Society in 1906 and its President from 1914 to 1917. He became a trustee of the RGS in 1924.
