Mr William Jones (21 August 1816–12 January 1887)

British surveyor. Eldest son of Philip Jones of Glyncastell (1785-1848) and Anne Llewelyn. A radical in his younger days, corresponding with a well known Chartist in Merthyr Tydfil, he later became an entrepreneur with landowning and mining interests. He married Jennet Jenkins of the Ton, Resolven, in 1845 and they had four children.
