The Sir John Herschel Collection
The preparation of the print Calendar of the Correspondence of Sir John Herschel (Michael J. Crowe ed., David R. Dyck and James J. Kevin assoc. eds, Cambridge, England: Cambridge Univ. Press, 1998, viii + 828 pp) which was funded by the National Science Foundation, took ten years. It was accomplished by a team of seventeen professors, visiting scholars, graduate students, advanced undergraduates, and staff working at the University of Notre Dame.
The first online version of Calendar was created in 2009 by Dr Marvin Bolt and Steven Lucy, working at the Webster Institute of the Adler Planetarium, and it is that data that has now been reformatted for incorporation into Ɛpsilon.

Received letter of 10th. Understands that there is no need to forward any more copper.
Refers to [James] Wilson's letter of 18 Nov. Queen must proclaim certain coins to be legal tender in colonies before Mint may issue them.
Encloses copy of note from [W. D.] Haggard regarding production of quicksilver in California. Use of gold bullion coins will be influenced by issue of equilibrium of gold and silver as 'concurrent measures of value.' [JH note on verso on copper alloy ratios.]
Analysis of quantities of coins in circulation. Explains ways in which gold and silver are diverted from coins to other purposes.
Reports assay results of British coins minted in Turkey.
Will forward [?]'s petition to W. H. Barton when Barton returns next week.
P.S.: Henry Bingley asks Treasury for further clarification on compensation for Bingley's son.

Gave [?]'s instructions to policeman at [Mint] gate. No silver bullion is available on market. Coinage may have to cease. Gives quantities of gold and silver delivered last week.
If enclosed report meets [?]'s approval, please show it to Chancellor of Exchequer. Parts of it should not be seen by JH's subordinates.
Outlines administrative organization, duties, and jurisdiction of Sydney branch mint. Procedure for sending sample coins to London for examination and approval.
