Changing a date of meeting for the magnetic committee of the B.A.A.S., and inviting GA to be there.
Thanks GA for offer of accommodation [see GA's 1844-11-2], but JH says he must stay with Miss [Elizabeth] Baily at Tavistock Place.
Regarding L. F. Menabrea's papers, thinks he is a good mathematician. Is not so sure about Augusta A. King's (Lady L[ovelace]) notes.
Asks HL for comments about the question of continuing the magnetic observations.
[Form letter] Asks recipients to consider value of magnetical research supported by British government and submit opinions on whether B.A.A.S. should seek continuation of this support after present agreement with government expires at end of 1845.
Responds to ES's request for JH's remarks on the mode of registering and printing the actinometer observations.
Does not think Francis Baily's relatives should take part in JH's presentation on Baily to the R.A.S., but if they have asked to do so, they should not be refused. Would like a copy of Caroline Herschel's silhouette. Is'facing the engraver's hands' with his nebula, and must get the plate of JH's portrait, which RS placed at the disposal of the Duke of Northumberland.
Adds remarks to his previous comments [JH 1344-11-17] on Francis Baily's relatives participating in the memorial to Baily.
Inquires about the possibility of holding a Standards Commission meeting on the Royal Observatory's Visitation Day.
Sends a list of James Dunlop's nebulae.
Making arrangements to stay with GA when JH comes for a meeting.
